This Splendid World of Yours

Twenty years after following a strict conventional religion, I know nought what your intentions were. Show me a direct way to tap into my highest potential in whatever time I have left in this splendid world of yours.

Dont tell me in big flowery words that the highest potential is to be free, aware and blissful. I want to know how I can truly understand and empower myself against all my weaknesses, strengths, thoughts and emotions amidst my daily chaos. I want to know how I can make a man of me that you and I can be proud of. I want to know how I can respond to all the situations particularly the tough ones and still maintain my dignity and remain harmonious. I want to know how I can manifest all my aspirations and still remain level-headed and sated in this splendid world of yours.

Dont tell me I have lots of toxins within me that are hindering me from absolute freedom, joy and bliss. All I am interested in is knowing how I can accept me as I am, build on the present and have a sense of fulfillment for me, my family, my friends and for all the people I know and know not in this splendid world of yours.

Dont tell me I must have my health, my wealth and my smart Alex in me to learn and enjoy life. I want to know how I can truly enjoy with what I have and help others with what they have. Tell me how I can overhaul my old engine to run like an almost new engine in this splendid world of yours.

Dont tell me the whole world is an illusion and I must detach myself from that. I seek enthrallment in learning how to respond fully but not be captivated by all the beautiful and splendid things, eyes that love, arms that hold, for your spirit still delight, and holy thoughts that star the night in this splendid world of yours.

Dont keep reminding me that the whole world is cruel and selfish. I want to know how I can hold on to my sanity, how I can be compassionate and how I can still love unconditionally. Tell me what will keep me intact when all else fails, tell me what will guide me when all the worldly rationale has ended up in frustration. Tell me how I can still enjoy when the world around me restricts me from the joy and bliss thats bountiful in this splendid world of yours.

Dont tell me that I am lost; why dont you remind me that there is always a free unselfish corner within me and in the people around me. If there is anything like Infinity, I am interested to know how I can be in touch with all that promised miracles and how I can utilize its goodness in whatever time I am left with in this splendid world of yours.

Dont keep reminding me of the conventional paradox, it will take many lives to know all its splendid offerings. I am only interested in knowing what it holds in store for me in this life for whatever time I have. If you can tell me of all of this splendor now, I shall be yours and yours forever in this splendid world of yours.

Now that I have journeyed so far, dont stop me, for if I could, Id comb the sky and collect the stars, quickly piling them into a basket until it overflows with a silvery light. And then Id like to give the basket to you because of all the wonderful things that are so precious and beautiful which only you have created in this splendid world of yours. (c) 2000 Ram Varma
